Magical Samoyeds Story

Our love for Samoyeds began when we rescued a lost Samoyed wandering through our neighborhood. We cared for her until we found her family, and in that short time, we fell in love with both her temperament and the breed. After researching Samoyeds, we knew they would be a perfect fit for us.

After months of searching, we found a local breeder and welcomed Baxter in 1997. He taught us so much and was loved by everyone. After 13 and a half wonderful years, we lost him, but we knew life without a Samoyed would never feel complete. That led us to the Samoyed Club of America breeder directory as we began the search for our next companion.

We connected with two breeders we hoped to get our next Samoyed because we admired their stories and their dogs. First came Jersey from Pebbles Run Samoyeds, and six months later we welcomed our dream girl, Holly, from McMagic Samoyeds.

This was the beginning of our Magical journey—learning all the many ways to enjoy life with Jersey and Holly. Like many Sammies, they were eager to learn and happiest when staying active with us. We started basic obedience training early and quickly saw how well they responded to positive reinforcement. That led us to AKC performance events such as Rally and Canine Good Citizen, where both earned titles.

We also joined our local Samoyed club, where we discovered and participated in activities that our working Samoyeds love, such as carting, pack hikes, herding, agility, and therapy work. Through the club, we participated in parades and Meet the Breed events that helped promote this beautiful breed. Sadly, after 13 wonderful years we lost both Jersey and Holly within 6 months of each other, the loss was devastating.

After reaching out to our breeders, we added Juliet and Miles from different litters – and that’s when another Magical Journey began.

​

The experience we gained over 25 years with Baxter, Jersey, and Holly prepared us to make life with Juliet and Miles even more rewarding. Along the way, our love for the Samoyed breed deepened, as did our appreciation for how much they thrive when they are active, involved with their families, and given the chance to work and perform.

​

Most of our experience has been in training and competing in AKC performance events such as Rally, CGC, and Trick Dog. We never expected to enter the conformation ring but caught the “show” bug and enjoyed it. Along the way, we came to enjoy the grooming, the friendships, and the lessons that came with both wins and losses. Miles earned his championship title in one year and Juliet earned both her championship and grand championship titles in less than one year.

 

Our Magical journey continues as we explore new goals and activities with Miles and Juliet, and we hope others will begin their own meaningful journey through the Magical Samoyeds breeding program.
